Actually. LoL Is a joke. They sell the wigs, not give them away, though they use a sliding scale. They only use a small percentage that is donated to them. The rest is sold. to other companies. The BBB and IRS has had several investigations on them. It is for kids with alopecia areata, Not cancer like the love to let people believe. Anyone who wears wigs understands that synthetic fibers are actually better and easier to deal with (I make wigs) Human hair wigs are harder to maintain, more prone to breakage and getting dirty. and most kids find the wigs to be highly uncomfortable. Sad but very true.
Actually Locks for Love IMO has been up front that it is not for cancer patients but instead from those suffering from AA (it even says it on their homepage). These kids can never grow hair as opposed to cancer patients who will eventually grow back hair. It is just the public who just doesn’t seem to understand this. When I donated my hair a few years ago it specifically stated that it wasn’t necessariy for children with cancer.
Honestly, whatever flaws there may or may not be with LoL, the idea that young children recognize that they can do something nice by cutting their hair is refreshing. These children recognize that other kids could benefit from something that they have and want to be charitable. If it makes them proud to donate or in some other way be charitable in the future, it is worth it (although I still believe that the hair is going to the cause as advertised).

My wife and I both donated ponytails to Locks Of Love. Yep, I grew a ponytail to donate to them too. I love what they do for kids.
