Nobody disses the Gilfather and gets away with it.

The Peakes appear to eat with their elbows on the table, like peasants. Some young people actually have to grow up with parents like these.

Jack Berrill must be spinning in his grave.

I’d be surprized if any older stories were as good as this, with such a revolting character as Carl Peake. (So lifelike.)

Mrs Peake just sits there and lets Mr Peake ridicule their son! She must be an AA flunky. Plus Kemper sits at the corner of the table (no glory there).

Duh Duh Duh! Parenting 101, do not compare siblings to one another they each have their own gifts.

I’d say something to dear old dad, but it wouldn’t get past the censors………..

For any of you that have coached or been associated with youth sports as sad as it is “davidblack” has it right when he says “some kids actually have to grow up with parents like this.”

That said, one thing I’ve enjoyed about this strip through the years is how the “villains” are always so over-the-top. Nuanced evil is clearly a lost concept in metro Milford.

put in his place? Gil is going for the 180 degree turn-around. Mr peake is going to be a softie by football season.

Oh great, a remake of “Ordinary People” with Mr. Peake mastering the Mary Tyler Moore role of comparing siblings and witholding affection/attention.

Cassie: Please intervene with Kemper, show him some love and help keep him from slitting his wrists.

Taking care of Pa Peake might require the Gilfather to call in a “cleaner.” I recommend Ma Raptor.

What is Mrs. Peake doing with her spoon in panel 2? Her body language and arm positioning suggest Mr. Peake is about to get the spoon jammed into his left ear.

P3 - I tried to recreate the finger point by McPeake, and it is really uncomfortable … at least for me.

And for a family that on the surface appears to be “well to do” they eat at a tiny dining room table.

Mrs. Peake does appear to have put away a couple of cocktails before dinner.

I gotta say - I like the Peake kids.

What a grotesque little thing Mr. Peake is. I hope his daughter runs off with a biker.

That father of theirs is 5 over after 1 hole.. The storyline takes a good turn I hope.
