@kea: Not really. Many restaurants make wait staff stick with wages that barely cover their tax revenue. Tipping is their entire income.
I see this very complaint (about friends not tipping decently/at all) come up on bad customer sites fairly often. Usually the poster is too nice/can’t think of a nice way to tell their friends the real score.
