I never thought I would see myself in this strip. I went to get a prescription, was there 30 minutes early, so I got a cart, read my book while waiting at what came to be the head of the line for the pharmacy to open. (Obviously early in the morning, so the cart I had was not needed by a mobility challenged person, at least.)

You do not EVER use those carts unless you’re disabled! You don’t know that someone may have given up on even coming in because there was no cart!

And yes, I am disabled and this is a trigger for me, I cannot count the times that I’ve seen able-bodied people (when they jump up and and lift a 50 pound bag of something, you don’t need it) use the carts. My disability is invisible so I’ve gotten glares. And what really pisses me off is people using the disabled spots for “just a minute”. HAH!

I still get mad at this man who was a lawyer in Phoenix who said on live television that he didn’t care and would continue using them! I do believe he was fired. Served him right.

I always forget to “Like” this strip even though I think it’s great because some of the characters’ behavior is so reprehensible!

I have a permanent disability due to having 7 back surgeries and it really bugs me when I see people park in a handicap space, get out of the vehicle and race into the building. I can’t walk any substantial distance without having quite a bit of pain. I don’t how some of the people get handicap placards when they don’t appear to have any handicap and I understand that sometimes they have a condition that is not outwardly apparent.

I go to the supermarket often and I’m always amazed at how many people use those carts. One thing I learned, is that when they put those things in reverse you better get the Hell out of the way, because most of them don’t care what or who is behind them. Those are the ones I suspect don’t really need to be using them.

When my mother was living she didn’t like using them because she was afraid she would run over something. Now that she’s dead she doesn’t need them… Most of the carts are so slow you don’t have to worry about running over someone. The carts I’ve seen beep loudly when you back up. I had to use those scooter carts before I had knee surgery. I don’t like using them because everything looks so different from that level. I have/had severe lower back pain. I have a spinal stimulator now but it only lasts so long. I just use the regular carts and when the pain gets bad I lean on the cart handle with my elbows. I kind of see what Burl is talking about on the bottom shelf merchandise. Once the only ones there were way back on the shelf. I had to get on my hands and knees to reach them. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to get up. I now take my cane in to reach things at the bottom or top shelves. I have a handicapped placard. The doctor had to prescribe one before I could get it.
