I went with my son’s class on a mountain hike. It was a tough trail. Straight up in a couple of spots. The whole way I was at the back of the pack, thinking “down will be easier, down will be easier…” It WASN’T, because it worked the backs of your legs more than the fronts! Gravity was not as big an aid as I thought it would be!

I haven’t found downhill to be easier, especially on a sandy slope. I love mountain hiking, but I prefer to go up. I love the silence and the views.

Downhill is much harder on my knees, and that’s my weak point.
