    I thought that a few decades ago they had identified the remains of a supernova that would have been at exactly the right place in the sky at the right time to be The Star.

    The wise men from the east followed a “star”, or angel, for at least a year AFTER the birth of Christ. The star stopped and stood over the house (not manger) where the young child (not baby) was. There would be no way to tell what exactly a celestial star was “standing” over.
