Frazz by Jef Mallett for December 30, 2015
Transcript:
Frazz: Shoot. I can't wrap up my target yardage for the year if the pool doesn't have more lap-swimming hours. Miss Plainwell: How late would it have to be open? Frazz: Probably April. Miss Plainwell: This could explain your frustrations in the 500 free. Frazz: I should get bonus yards for taking more strokes per length.

If that were true, I would be in the Olympics also.

Funny. I’d also looked at trying to make a goal of something I do as measured by the artificiality of the end of the calendar year. Realizing the actual end is that of life and what I do until then was sobering and brought me back to reality. As many of us do much less than Frazz in our daily lives, I know I could use his (I’m personifying a cartoon character!) model as a guide for my own activity. Keep smiling, everyone. That’ll keep people wondering what you’re thinking. :)

I don’t keep track of my mileage, but Map My Ride apparently does. I was a full 1000 miles short of where I guestimated I was for the year. Been an awfully wet year, though, and I don’t own a trainer.

I look for using as few strokes as possible for the length of the olympic size public pool here and surprisingly I lost less than 10% of my highest speed, but gained double endurance.
