Amundsen used (and ate) dogs. The British under Scott did not: they had dogs and had planned on using them to to help the Southern party return but in the event did not.
My dog knows where the vet’s office is. She whines when we get in the car until we go past the office or take a turn that leads us elsewhere. Then she’s really excited and makes nose smudges on the windows.
