PCs are the only way to go…crazy!

I have two (count ‘em, two) Sony VAIO laptops (a friend suggested I call this black, angular one Darth VAIO), but next time I’m definitely getting an Apple that also emulates PCs.

i bought mine from a kids computer camp. paid cash money, got a great deal, and helped out the kids at the same time. just need to get speakers (maybe) and a printer/scanner which i would have bought anyway. as long as you’re happy with what you get, who cares about the brand name?

” i ” remember this story arc now! This is where his mom bought him the “i-fruit”, a parody of the apple i-mac monitor computer (with built-in modem) that came in eight “flavors” (colors). It has been in this strip series ever since dispite the fact Apple have long stop producing those models.

You guys realize this thing came out before the big “I (insert generic name)” became the fade right? Mr. Amend predicted the FUTURE…..

Never know, they may make a IFruit..

I switched back to Macs because the software is so much easier to maintain by yourself. It’s Unix underneath, and no registry to fight with.

But, I used to work at Xerox PARC when my colleagues were coming up with the window systems that Apple made successful.

For years I used a pc. Then my son bought me a Mac for Christmas three years ago. Since then it hasn’t crashed once. Every morning when I go in to see my favorite ‘toons it works perfectly and is quick about it! Having said all of that, I must say, I miss Excel and Word. Mac has “comparable” software but cannot hold a candle to Excel. Especially when one has a need to use their VBA(Visual Basic Apps). A very powerful package!

I’m with twypsi - I’m a nerdnik engineer and do a lot of stuff with Visual Basic in Excel,,, nothing comes close.

Nabu - normally agree with the recommendation on waiting on getting the bugs out,, but just recently (on the recommendation of an IT guy I trust) had both my computers purged of Vista and installed Windows 7 from scratch (not an upgrade)… It’s early, but gotta admit I’m pretty happy so far - not an endorsement because everything could go to Purgatory tomorrow,, just an observation.

twpsi, have you tried Office for Mac? I’ve used it for years and the Word and Excel programs are excellent. Plus I’ve ported documents and spreadsheets between Macs and PCs without any problems..

Valerie,, the weak link is the Visual Basic. Microsoft stopped putting it into the Office for Mac versions. I understand the upcoming release will have it, but the bottom line is – unfortunately for us consumers – the Mac versions of Microsoft programs will always be subject to the whims of Big Brother Bill…

Hmm… I believe these strips came out long before Mac was using a Unix-core OS.

“Never buy an operating system from Microsoft unless it’s at least 2 years old. XP, for example, couldn’t run most software until service pack 2 came out. Then it was an excellent OS. Had to wait for the bugs to get worked out.”

I pre-ordered Windows 7 and installed it the day it came out. I upgraded my system from XPx32 to 7x64. My computer just “worked.” It has continued to work excellently. I would never ever ever ever go back to XP. They’re starting to get things right. It doesn’t crash. Since I actually know what I’m doing, it doesn’t get viruses, either.

With Windows, I can play games on it and Steve Jobs doesn’t get to tell me what I can and can’t put on it. =\ I run Linux Virtual Machines, too. I’d run a Mac VM, too, if Jobs actually allowed his software to run on anything but a stringent set of specific hardware. I had an NVidia video card burn out and I replaced it with an ATI. Windows kept working smoothly.

I will always be a person who believes that every system has its strengths. I would never ever sign up for Windows Hosting for a website: Linux is better for servers, and I would more likely than not recommend Macs for anyone who doesn’t tinker with their computer.

“Think fruity” is right. Jason will be running GNU/Linux on it within minutes.

Oh, and Bill (not Amend) hasn’t been big brother for a while now, just a FYI :)

I never could figure out why they sued MIcrosoft for bundling their operating system with a web browser when,at the same time, Apple was bundling their operating system with a computer.
