Thing is, that particular song has layers. As originally written, it’s a flirting song in which the woman pretends to be persuaded to stay because it wouldn’t be “proper” to be in a man’s rooms overnight. (“What’s in this drink” was a popular joke at the time, indicating there’s no alcohol.).But with a different singing style and emphasis, it turns into a predator pressuring a woman to have sex with him.
One of the more memorable covers of this song that I’ve seen was on the old Johnny Cash show, with June Carter fighting off the advances of Homer and Jethro. Rape culture-ish. Yeah, I can see that.
On the other hand, the Barnes & Noble commercial with Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett is quite nice.
The songs ok although I have heard a few creepy versions. It’s the Christmas greed songs that I have a hard time with.‘Santa Baby’ and ‘5 Pound Box of Money’ WTH were they thinking?

I know what Albert is doing, but it’s unseasonably warm where Pab is right now.

I find a new product quite ironic. Root Beer was supposed to be a substitute for real beer. Now you can by alcoholic root beer, come full circle.

My favorite version of the song is James Taylor and Natalie Cole.
