The time it takes my cats to go through a door is directly proportional to the difference in temperature between the inside and outside.

We’ve had a couple Labs like that! One would hide under the shrubs to get back to the house if the sprinklers came on.

I’ve got my cats trained to go by the 2-second rule. I count to two. If they don’t go in or out, the door gets closed and they stay in or out until I feel like trying again. It only took a few times for them to get it. They generally don’t tarry anymore.
