After these sociology courses, I'm confused about who the good guys and the bad guys are. What about nature vs nuture? Are people born evil and is evil just a construct of society?
Superman, one year into college.
“Just watch a young child and you will see what their tendencies are.”.How young? Children straight from the womb have been observed imitating those around them. And I’ve seen plenty of children of all ages that were spontaneously helpful and not selfish or hurtful, without their parents having to “teach” them. Hard to be sure whether they learned simply by having good examples to imitate, but my impression is that plenty of them were not “selfish, broken and fallen” at birth..I am reminded of a quote I often heard from my parents: “Judge not others by thyself.”
Well, the Nature Vs Nurture has a pretty good bit of evidence in that the More Neglected the child as an Infant, the more Likely you are to end up with a sociopath..Babies who are Never Held or cuddled almost Always turn out messed up..Babies who are cuddled and spoiled can also grow up to be Sociopaths, but their odds for turning out Good are Much better.

Boy. Wait until he takes philosophy and encounters Nietzsche. Should he get a big red “U” on his chest?

In my 59 years; I have seen college screw up it’s share of people. A lot of good kids would have had a better life if they had not gone.

Maybe he needs to go back to the black-and-white comics where everything is very black and white.

You just knew that CRon or one of the other religious crazies would show up here to peddle his unsubstantiated, unsupported, unnecessary nonsense.
