I love Robb and have loved this comic for many years… but I’m not too keen on this arc. I feel like he’s trying to depict it as some kind of “empowered woman” decision for her to turn down a higher rank. As though it’s “empowering” to aspire for less if it’s your own choice. But the real poison is what it is in society that makes women generally feel like they should aspire to lower ranks in the first place. It’s not that “she’s happy because it was her choice” but that there’s a problem in that being less is what makes her happy.
