YAY! Welcome back, Danders, and not a moment too soon. The hermit crab’s been absolutely insufferable in your absence.

I been with this comic for almost two years. Could any of you Cul de Sac-alohlics bring me up to speed on this little guy?

Danders/Mr. Danders is the class guinea pig. Having spent a lifetime in academia he fells that by right he ought to have a Ph.D., hence his preference for “Dr.” Danders. He’s the only animal in the strip who can talk to the children (although he’s also talked with other animals).

He tells interesting stories about the noble heritage of guinea pigs, but they aren’t all perhaps strictly true. His nemesis is the class hermit crab. He has occasionally gotten off the Blisshaven campus (either by himself or with a little help) and had adventures. Over the summers and holidays, he sometimes is sent home to be tended by the children.

But he hasn’t appeared in the strip for AGES, and no doubt he has thrilling stories to tell about where he’s been.

He was featured pretty prominently in the early days of the strip (even before syndication), so rush right out and buy either the first collection, “Cul de Sac: This Exit”, or the Garland Treasury, which will tell you pretty much everything you need to know.
