It is hard to find even a balance of the sexes, usually for ever female there are up to 5 males. Everywhere.

One director I auditioned for changed the character I wanted to play in Tartuffe to a woman because he knew he’d get more women auditioning. I’ve also done Twelfth Night with a woman (in fake beard) as Sir Toby and The Taming of the Shrew with a woman as Gremio. Remember the ad with the very old lady head on the sexy young woman body? We had an old man head on such a body between putting on her makeup and putting on her costume.
