I have a long-hair tuxedo, too, named Molly. Mol has a lot of things in common with your cat. Plus, she’s polydactyl, has an extra toe on each foot, one big-footed cat! We call her Poly Molly.
Here’s Molly as a wee kitten:

I love vacuuming. I start in the living room. White flash, black flash. on to the dining room, flash flash. Guest room, hallway, i can feel the fear mounting as I approach the master bedroom.. the bed rocks as a black and a white cat race for the couch they had deserted.
John, don’t want to bother you but if you got the time I could use the phone numbers of all the Von Tramp girls. When you get around to it.
bubujin_2, I’m going to break with my general policy of not commenting on Von Tramp names, I’ve got to say this one made me laugh out loud. Dust Bunny Von Tramp it is!!
twright64, cute, cute kitty in the first link. Thanks for the look. Second link didn’t work. Seems to be a bad link.
lewreader, I could use those phone numbers myself!
For our cat he loves brushing and is shedding like crazy, My daughter has a female dog like my icon and she likes being scratched and brush she also sheds. There is a lot of vacumming going. Has to be the extreme heat. I live in KS.

Kab Buch: You can send some of your heat towards the Puget Sound area, but NOT the “extreme” part of it.
I moved here to Port Orchard from Okla. and I do understand what you’re saying about “extreme heat”. We’ve had an unusually cool summer so far. My wife is in Texas for a couple weeks and it’s 110° in San Angelo.
one of my cats, of course my ex-feral shanti, has knots in her hair
how she got them, i’m clueless as she is a very short hair
she sees the comb and a mad chase ensues, houseplants and fragile things suffer
she’s a polydactyl calico tabby, who was originally found ar a homeless shelter and loves doritos and bread more than chicken or turkey
Nice cat, John. I have three, they’re sisters (littermates). I have always watched cats clean each other, especially the top of the head, but my trio is so lazy, they barely clean themselves! They’ll eat and sleep together, but they clean alone. Just themselves, not each other—and definitely not the house!

I need to vacuum more often. Here’s the reason if anyone’s curious: http://www.lastkisscomics.com/2010/08/03/nature-abhors-my-cat-vacuuming/

I’ve got the furminator. It works great. I just need to use it more often–maybe every hour. Cous is a fur ball wrapped in a fur ball.

I have a friend who shaves her, um, cat. Says there’s less shedding. From what I’ve seen, she’s right!

Dog hair everywhere is much better.
