The Fink is probably hiding in a hole in the ground like Sadam did.

Congratulations, Rodney, you might be the first soldier to find a good use for your field manual. Although it does come in handy if you run out of Monkey Ward catalogs.

Well, they stopped firing, which is a good sign.

I wouldn’t worry too much. The Huns value Rodney too much as comic relief not to let him and his men go home in one piece.

Now we know which branch of serves the “Castle Guards” are NOT in. If it were the Marines Rodney would have said Now we have them right where we want them… Fire in all directions!

I guess which branch they’re in is still up in the Air…

The success of that tactic depends on the enemy. In pre European American cultures, enemies who were too cowardly to die in battle were despised and made low level slaves. (A successful retreat was much more respected.) They thought the Spanish were great at first, because all those slaves meant many victorious battles over cowardly enemies. Too late, they discovered the Spanish kidnapped people for slaves.

I believe Islam calls for enslaving prisoners of war also, but in practice the current crop of Islamists prefer beheading. I don’t think the Huns treated prisoners well either. In general, Rodney is much better off attempting a retreat even at the risk of death - it is better than a slow beheading or slavery.

That’s the most Huns I ever saw in this strip. It looks like the Little Big Horn. They really only needed two men—well mebby one.

It was George Armstrong Custer who said:

There are targets of opportunity in every direction.
