I had a long time friend who once said to me “you’ll show up late to your own funeral” to which of course everyone laughed including me. Many years since, I have seen the error of my ways and now try to be punctual. It’s disrespectful to those who are waiting for you if nothing else.
That’s what we resorted to with my always-late late father to try to get him to be ready to go on time. He was often still lagging when it was time to go, but at least it was better…

I had a friend long ago who ran on “Gail time.” She set all the clocks in her house ahead by 20 minutes.

I am sadly guilty of this myself. I have taken to calling myself “the late Liverlips McCracken.”
