Anyone remembering some commemorative (or somewhat commemorative) Welch’s jars doubling as drinking glasses? I sure do.

I had a bunch of 1776-1976 commenorative glassware as everybody was saying they would be worth bucks someday. Someday never came and I gave them all to the thrift shop.

I thought Pluggers used jelly stored in ball jars. I still have one or two jars left that my mom canned 20yrs ago.But, we did buy jelly in cartoon glasses when our kids were little.

Unless its jelly I like, I avoid the plastic jars these days.

We also used to get chicken feed in bags with print patterns on them. Save enough of one kind for dresses and shirts, The pattern was washable and the the feed mill label would wash out of the fabric. Now everything is plastic.

We had a cupboard full of those, and to this day I cannot eat apple or grape jelly! Also my mom used, Duz to get glasses and Breeze and whatever other laundry soap to get the free washcloths they packed in every box.

We never used jelly glasses but still use glasses they gave us every time we filled up with gas.

I have several juice glasses from the 30s and 40s that cheese spread came in that have various designs on them.

We had those beautiful colored aluminum tumblers that came with cottage cheese in them. The milkman left them, one every week. A cold drink in one of those was sooo good in the summer. Only problem, the color chipped off. Seems like “freewith purchase” stuff was everywhere in the 1950’s. Now the grandkids are selling it on eBay.

A woman named Janice whom I worked with always gave me her shrimp cocktail glass containers. They made great juice glasses. Then my wife had to get fancy and buy some glasses that lasted only a few years. We still have the cocktail glasses wrapped up some where.

Anyone interested in a collection of Beanie Babies? Don’t tell her I told you, but I think my wife’s collection numbers in the hundreds…

My Mom used to collect Gold Bond and S&H Green Stamps! Pretty hard to tell how much stuff she acquired through the books of stamps she saved, but there were a lot of different items…

The only thing I ever collected was gold…

Bama stopped using the jelly design that was virtually a trade mark. Now we have to be careful with our jelly glasses!

Here in Mexico we buy mole sauce paste in jars that double as glasses. Very practical and you don´t mind if they brake. Some times they have special editions with more adorned designs.

This one doesn’t work for me any more. I don’t keep the bottles of squeeze jelly.
