I beg to differ. My cat had terrible separation anxiety when we first adopted her. She would stand by the door yowling for hours when I went to work. It did not ingratiate her to the neighbors. She still gets anxious if we don’t give her a little food to distract her before leaving.

I found a cat in the middle of a highway just about 16 months ago when she was approximately 6 months old. She is still semi-feral but follows me around like a puppy. I seem to be her only “security blanket”, although she is beginning to warm to my husband. When I go out, she is waiting at the same door when I get back. I “have” to be in eyesight of her for her to feel safe.
