The Kafka reference it to Kafka’s novel Metmophisus where a man wakes up one morning and discovers he’s changed into a cockroach. Spike used the idea a few years back where they had a show where a lawyer woke up and discovered he’d turned into a giant rat.

I just looked the show up on google and it was called Gary the Rat and voiced by Kelsey Grammer.
