Mom: Are you picketing? Phoebe: I'm advocating. Mom: For? Phoebe: New punctuation! Earlier I was texting Marigold about the tacos you made for dinner. And it was like, the tacos were okay, but not exclamation point level good. But just saying "we had tacos" with a period is so...meh. So I invented this. It shows my mild approval of your tacos. I could name it after you! Mom: "Mom" is a terrible name for punctuation.

Phoebe’s new punctuation mark almost looks like the DVS logo.

When closing a quote it always looks stupid no matter what order you put the period and close quotes in. There should be some way of putting both of them in the same vertical line.

Too bad you don’t know your mom’s real name. But you still know your dad’s right?

Wait a minute! Is Mom wearing blue jeans and not black? Or is it just the fabric of the chair?

I found a similar joke in a very old “Ozy and Millie” strip from a time before most archives begin.
Millie was trying to think up with a less emotional word to replace “wellfare” and came up with the symbol for the singer known as “Prince.” Ozy told her it was taken

I still can’t understand why the interrobang hasn’t taken off — it serves a useful function, and we’re not restricted by the keys on a typewriter anymore.
So what is up with that ‽

Two more examples of the importance of punctuation:
“Woman, without her man, is nothing.” (vs.) “Woman: without her, man is nothing.”
“I like cooking my family and my pets.” (vs.) “I like cooking, my family, and my pets.”
This was my Random comic tonight.
