Before some of you start posting about how it must just be that white people are better entertainers, I would invite you to see these two recent articles from the NY Times: this one about studies done by USC and the Directors Guild, and this one that tells the personal experiences of many women, people of color, and LGBTQ folks in the industry. Trying reading them both with an open mind, and then leave your comments.

And Streep would no doubt get an Oscar nomination for that role too

The film festival they are talking about was in Berlin. Meril Streep chaired the committee but did not pick the other members. The winning film, by the way, is about the problems faced by people trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea from Africa to start new lives in Europe. The “Berlinale” festival itself is actually quite diverse (not just because of that film).

lgbtq, i think that says it all. WWI started in the balkans, balkanization. let us all retreat to our own little island and damn the rest of you for not understanding our problems. and, yes, i deserve special treatment because I’m not the same as you. I’m different. when do we get to add a few more initials for the multitudes that are “different?” and need special dispensation.
