Deer: It's best if we keep our distance...we wouldn't want to startle the performers!
During breeding season, most animals act frisky and appear foolish. Since humans are always “in season” that might be why they so often act foolish.
Most of the time when the artist shows them as little kids, he shows them as adults in the same strip, so we understand that they’re the same people transformed somehow. It might have been hard to do that in this strip.
