Tonightâs song is Wooly Bully. Leaky plays the part of Sam the Sham. Margueritem and ML are totally mesmerized as Leaky, Slim, and the guys performâŚ
âThe loveliness of Paris is somehow sadly gay.
The glory that was Rome is of another dayâ
I was terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan..
Iâm going home to my city by the bay.
I left my heartin San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me.â
And I used to dance a mean twist to â bullyâWoolyâ!!
thanks, VistaBill for Wooly BullyâŚ..brought a laugh to my eyesâŚâŚâŚ. donât remember Sam the Sham, though. But, if you say that was leaky, then that âs really cool!!!!
VBâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚfor some reasonâŚ..once I âbecameâ respectibleâŚ.and a married woman at the age of 20âŚâŚ..it seems that my musical tastes âmaturedââŚâŚâŚ
It seems that Nelson Riddle, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Pat Boone, Harry Belafonte and MORE became my musicians of choice. I forsake Elvis, Beatles, and even jerry Lee Lewis for the more subdued life. (??))
I remember the nights where we went to the Greek Theatre to see Harry BelafonteâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚand we sat in the âscholarship sectionââŚ..and he used to do âMatildaâ and ask for all the âtree folkâ to sing part of the songâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..and the trees came ALIVEâŚâŚâŚwoo hoo!!! what a fun night that was!!!!
what are those herbal tea remedies that you drink? I woke up again this a.m. at 3:45 and couldnât go back to sleep for hours. A good cup of some kind oâ tea would be welcomed!!!
âMLâŚ.. I find it hard to believe that you donât remember Sam the sham from the early 1970s, I belive.â
Story time: I lived up in the San Bernardino Mtns in a resort town called Gregory Village. I canât remember if it was 1969 or 1970, but I think it was the first. I was working construction Mon.- Fri. and bartending at the bowling alley on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and once in a while on week nights, but not tooi late. The bar had live music and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. That summer,
(no winter music, a summer resort town) there was a band that played gigs there for a couple of months. I donât remember their name, but Wooly Bully was in their play list. One Saturday night a gal that was a worker in the cafe came in on her 21st Bâday. I was dancing with her and the band swung into Wooly Bully. I canât remember the words to the song, but I had it down pat on themusic timing, and I did like to danceto it.. There I was twisting away and they played on and onâŚâŚand on a little more. I was exausted by the time they stopped.. If memory serves me right, Sam the Shamâs band was billed as âSam the Sham and the Pharoahsâ.
ML, The herb i use (single) while possibly available up there, is strongly disapproved of. (hint, hint).
I donât drink that before bed, though it will do the job.
But I do have a suggestion. Try âCelestial Seasonings Sleepytime Herbal tea. There are different Sleepytime teas, and I have a cup of the tea with the green boxtop every night before I go to bed. I let it steep for at least five minutes. If it cools down some, you can always zap it.
It is chamomile tea with some spearmint and other herbs.
I sweeten mine with honey. It helps.
Okay, Slim, Iâll try the sleepy time tea. Canât get the other kind.
In thinking of Sam the ShamâŚ..
Every weekend, my girlfriends and I went to Pacific Ocean Park for the nighttime rock ân roll show, and of course, to pick up guys. Maybe thatâs where we heard Wooly BullyâŚ
Of course, we would spend every Wednesday night at the âlibraryâ (as we told our folks), and âcruisedâ Van Nuys BlvdâŚâŚ..OhâŚ.how wild we were!!!! And then we ended up at âBobâs Big Boyâ for that late night snack of cherry coke and fries!!
MontanaLady, You had me wondering until you said Van Nuys Blvd., That put you in SoCal. When you mentioned the Greek Theater earlier, I was thinking Berkeley?
MLâŚâŚâŚ. think of one of the pleasant moments in your life and kind of meditate on it as you sip the tea, That helps the tea do itâs thing, because the meditating relaxes you.
I knew I had a book with âI Left My Heart In San Franciscoâ in it. I scanned the book cover about 8:00 or 8:30 PM. cropped and downsized it and it is my avatar toniight/today!!
Thatâs my hometown over there beyond the Golden Gate Bridge.
I am full of joy, the Orleans County Fair starts today.
Not the oldest fair in Vermont, but one of them.
One of a very few that still have harness raceing.
If any of you live in a place where a fair comes to town, go, youâll have fun.
Good mprning, or afternoon, whichever applies. Finally got up. I must be in training for when I move back downtown this Fall? I certainly seem to be becoming a night person again? Itâs always been that way with meâ Late nights when Iâm living in the city, early to bed and early to rise in the country.
Along with Spike, we have margueritem and ML making a surprise appearance! One performance only. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: It is not intended or implied that leaky is in this video. If you see anyone that looks like himâŚ
