Huh!! The University of Minnesota is older than the state of Minnesota! On particularly warm and sunny days, the Eiffel tower leans toward its shaded side- as much as 18 centimeters! Clairvoyant and healer Victoria Woodhull became the first woman to run for US President in 1872- 48 years before women could even vote!

Minnesota: statehood in 1858. UM: established in 1851. Big whoop. The Hawaiian sister campus of BYU was established in 1955 before Hawaii gained statehood in 1959, the main BYU campus and U of Utah were established in 1875 and 1850 respectively before Utah gained statehood in 1896, or even (in my home state of Washington) U-Dub 1861 before the Washington statehood in 1889.
