Heā€™s your close personal friend now. Just stop by for a visit any time. And expect the same.

Well, Claude, at least she didnā€™t wipe herself with fake pine tree scent. Now thatā€™s disgusting!

Now we know how Cleo keeps her ā€œfreshā€ scent every day:

A roll-on odorant instead of a deodorant? Only from the mind of Nighthawks! Love the name!!

Itā€™s dead. But itā€™s a possum. So ā€“ is it?

Cleo knows that she is too special and too delicate to have to hunt for a dead possum outside. Besides, she used Claudeā€™s credit card for the purchase. And it had free shipping since she bought 5 of them.

Oh myā€¦ this is one of the things I pondered just the other night, about dogsā€¦

And Cleo is showing us her preferred method ā€¦

    in the Aug 9th Ā 2020 ā€œCLEO and COMPANYā€ā€¦

    Ā

itā€™s on Sherpaā€¦ go look, but stand backā€¦

you might want to maintain anti-social distancingā€¦

    phew-ee.

    Ā

Looks like a reputable company, at leastā€¦ they obviously use real possum.

The fake stuff must be even worse.

Iā€™m sure my dog would have ordered from themā€¦

though she wasnā€™t much bigger than a ā€™possum.

She preferred a dainty rotten snail.

But I always tried to limit her credit card useā€¦ we had enough tennis balls.

    Ā

The trouble is, weā€™re pretty human-chauvinistic, when it comes to our expectations of preferencesā€¦

we donā€™t even recognise how species-centric is our view of odor and taste, even appearanceā€¦

that might not be shared by our non-human friends.

    Ā

My auntā€™s overly pampered poodle would hide under the bed for days after a groomingā€¦

and sneak out to the kitchen, in the night, to knock over the garbage, and roll in anything smelly he could find.

My dog barked furiously at the big truck that was stealing the food out of our garbage can.

Even my friend, and our Sheriff, the Monkey, used to try to bring back spoiled leftovers that I put in the Tiki dumpster.

    Ā

We bathe our animals in shampoo that we think smells pleasant and freshā€¦

but to them, it smells like a wet humanā€¦

and theyā€™d be as likely to choose that as we would to pick ā€œEau de Wet Dog.ā€

Moxie has caught more than one possum in the back yard. One in particular played possum. Part of that was releasing various body fluids and solids (if you get my drift). Moxie then proceeded to roll in the black stinky gunk. So, there I was at 7 a.m., in my pajamas, in the back yard trying to wash possum gunk out of Moxie fur. Iā€™ll also add it was in the fall so it wasnā€™t exactly warm out and Moxie has a lot of long fur on her chest. Not my favorite way to start a day.
