Give man a fish and you feed him for a day; give Calvin a bucket and he and Hobbes will go hungry.

Calvin, Calvin, Calvin…tsk, tsk, tsk. You know that won’t work unless the fish has a similar bucket and the buckets are attached by a long piece of string. Then you could talk to each other just fine!

Sorry, Calvin. This isn’t Sesame Street, where you can just call the fish (“Heeere, FISHIE, FISHIE, FISHIE!!!”); and they just jump right into the boat! Welcome to real life, Calvin!

One time I was fishing with my family. I pulled the rod back, tangling the hook in a tree. Just then, my sister caught a snapping turtle.

That might work for flying fish, tho.

tie the bucket to a rope, then let it doen to rest on the bottom and the fish will go in and get comfortable, then pull up your bucket of fish,

Of course, they know that one. They’re always in schools.

You should have bought Hobbes along, Calvin.

But once you get fish in that bucket, it would be unethical to shoot them.

“Here, fishy fishy fish fishy!” Try that.

….apparently the wrong bucket list?

There was a world here before you, Cal. Things were done, people got born, fish got schooled. Yeah, some even became sturgeons. The thing to do is to hand them a line; eventually they get hooked.

After all, Fish is supposed to be brain food.

I found that if I stood in the stream with the bucket turned upsidedown, I could trap a pickerel in it, then reach in under it and grab it…avoiding the spiny fins! :-)
