I have a friend who’s always embarrassed and ashamed when she cries. I tell her not to be, that it’s okay to let your feelings show and to let them out.
To the commenters above: yes, it’s different when it’s said to a man— because it doesn’t echo with eons of history of what it had always meant in the past. Sure, men have been oppressed— but they’ve never been oppressed due to being men.
