Young guys were (are?) very concerned about how they moved. Pimply faced teens had to try and act “manly,” and the very thought of dancing made their manly bones turn to jelly.People have long contended girls/women are too emotional, but the fact is (from my observation), there is no more emotional character than a neurotic, hormonal, terrified and “manly” teen-aged boy.
There you have the problem — men do or don’t do things depending on how other men view them. Then they bitch because women don’t like them and it’s because they’ve never considered pleasing WOMEN — only themselves and their bros. It’s STILL not workin’ for you, guys…
Not only do remember watching “The Day After,” I video taped it (VHS). Years later, I watched it with a couple of younger friends who were just small children when it came out. The shock stayed with them for WEEKS!!!

Isn’t the Jive a dance way earlier than when these folks were teens?
And, ladies, maybe it’s just because we are clumsier in these kind of things than women, and we feel humiliated when we stumble around.
