So much for being the out-outfielder.

Lynn’sNoteThere were no dogs out there to spar with, just a few trees and the schoolyard fence. I was on my own.

Got me thinking, When we had pick-up baseball games, there were never any dogs around.

If you have dogs in the field, then it gives new meaning to the words “pick-up baseball games”.

We used to have a “decoy” ball for the dogs, which just became the alternate because they only wanted the ball that we were playing with.

Like most tagalongs she is not ready to join big sibling in game but would feel left out if excluded. Big bro and friends will shield her from blame, but not teasing.

When I was in school I sometimes allowed myself to be talked into joining baseball games. Since I wasn’t a boy I would be expected to be in the out outfield. It got so boring I finally wandered off to find something interesting to do. After a time or two I wasn’t asked anymore. Didn’t hurt my feelings any.
