It’s right in front of you, in back and white!

Bats Griffin… besides mimicking “King Kong”, “Ling Long” mimics “Ling-Ling”… a famous Giant Panda, named, and presented to the US, by the Chinese government.

    Were they being racist?

Hey B.G.,first off, I like your name and your avatar, very clever. Neither Mr. Varnes comment or the cartoon itself struck me as being racist, but I can see how it could be taken that way. When in doubt (indicated by your use of the word “borderline”) it is better to give the benefit of the doubt, and not draw attention to it. I have been reading this comic, and the comments of Mr. Varnes for a long time, and can assure you neither one has a racist agenda.

A personal story, I was trying to explain a different cartoon, about 6 months ago, clearly showing class distinction. One of the posters here griped at me because they thought I felt that way. That was and is not the case. If that person in his/her addled brain wants to think that way, fine.

    Sorry to gripe Bats.

SusanSunshineLoaned, not presented. They consider all giant pandas to be Chinese property, even if born in other countries, and have the loan contracts to prove it.
