That’s what my edler’s friends told me also as a kid. And to this day I see why…a sign of spouse abuse (that’s not to be taken lightly, mind you).
I was told that the thunder was the sound of the clouds bumping together, and that the clouds were like a flint and steel (we’d all seen my father light fires this way - he was a scoutmaster for over twenty years), so that explained the lightning.
