    But Kirk wore gold/green. Red (the shirt color) was for engineering/support and security during that time.

    the costume was actually lime green (that’s why the wraparound is green), but with the old SECAM color system it showed mustardy yellow. Same with spock, his originial on set makeup was more yellow pale, but again, it showed a different color at home.
