I think this strip is a commentary on how inconvenient kids can be instead of Lucy’s developing character. It takes a few years for Lucy to become Lucy. It always seemed that my kid needed something when she was in her crib at the worst time. When I dropped off to sleep, the last minute of the game, when the detective was about to reveal the killer in the mystery movie I was watching.. I would mutter to myself “You have to be doing this on purpose, waiting until the worst moment…”
