Oh how things changed…“we get along so well together.”

This is too cute. I wonder what happened with their relationship along the way. It’s like Violet started being mean to Charlie Brown out of the blue. To him of all people, who wouldn’t hurt a fly… at least in his later years.

Lucy is always drawn with her eyes wide at this point and is a toddler.

Violet is mercurial.

Sad that she, along with everyone else, started hating on Charlie Brown…

These ’50s strips were before my time, very cute. Why did all of the kids take to ridiculing Charlie Brown?

I’ll say. The older Peanuts strips were a lot more gentle-natured than it became.

I wonder when Charles decided to make Charlie Brown the most unloved of all Born Losers? I really wish he hadn’t, but then if we didn’t know where this strip ended up, we wouldn’t be able to appreciate the sweetness of these early strips, we might have thought they were a little too sugary sweet in the days of Alfalfa & the Gang.
