What the heck is the picture on the right suppose to be? The monster under the bed or perhaps an alien visitor?

The expressions on his subjects indicate they found out too late.

This woman is pretty much a blank outline with a pointy nose. Inspiration for Carl!

Well, at least Sam Basset didn’t say "Why did it have to be another B!+(#. "

Miss Behave casts an alluring spell. I can only assume that if this were in color we would see (Nighthawks close your eyes) PURPLIE lipstick.

Wow!

“The Maltese Basset” !!

One of the best films ever made…. and one of my all-time favorites (an overlapping, but not necessarily identical, pair of lists) …

and I almost slept through it!

I hope my ticket will let me stay through the second showing, so I can catch what I missed…

in the August 24th  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY” on Sherpa.

What a story, indeed…. I don’t want to give any spoilers, cos it says “to be continued” …

But it’s one of the first films to be called “noir”…

Every part, from leads to bit parts, of which there are few, cast to perfection.

There is no other_possible_ Sam Basset… or Miss Behave… for this film….

(even though I know another Miss Behave, IRL, but she wouldn’t be right for this film, cos she’s a drag queen… but I digress)

The “Fat Dog” will show up, as a memorable villain… played a famed (and fat) canine stage actor in his first screen role.

The simpering Joel Canine, if I remember his name right…

And the Basset itself…. wow.

Nighthawks has done a beautiful job of capturing the film…

What dogtective, no matter how hard-boiled, wouldn’t fall for that face, in panel three?

He wants to investigate her, privately, from the first moment.

But there are mysteries to sniff out… doggie romance is off the table…

until some details are dug up.

The stage is beautifully set…

My Favorite Part™ was .I.

Good morning Balladeers, (((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.

No one can follow a trail like Sam Basset. Once he has the scent he’s relentless.

Good Morning Ballardeers and Ms Bel!. Q-date 164.98246.46 and hooboy howdy it’s gonna be sticky and I have to go to the transplant docs office for a follow up. Should be a look at last months test results, tell me to lose more weight, check on the how the meds are doing, my general state of mind (bat crap crazy) and send me on my way.

I love a good noir. All of the older ones were great and Sin City was a strange (me too) but good one.

Oh my Goodness! One of my all time favorite movies! I just love Mr. Basset’s casual repartee. (Like ‘in walked trouble’) Love how Miss Behave is always flipping one of her ears away from her eyes. A real classy dame.

My favorite part? ‘To be continued’!!!

How much is Sam Basset going to charge her for his help? Or, will she hug him and he’ll forget to charge her anything?

…if he did that at the park he could draw crowds.

I got to watch most of that with a client yesterday.

An old movie that never gets old.
