Geezer music depends on the ear of the listener. Too bad he didn’t listen, he might have enjoyed it.

My g-kids thing Jefferson Airplane is Geezer, their idea of music is a song with the f-stutter for half the lyrics.

I was in a bank some years back, that had a radio playing elevator music. It sounded…familiar. After a couple minutes, I recognized the Muzak rendition of Stairway To Heaven.Makes me wonder what the Muzak version of IN-A-GADDA-DA-VIDA would sound like.

Music, like art, is totally personal. I love some stuff from the 30’s and 40’s. The 60’s (my period) pretty good. 70’s sucked! 80’s on is generally to be ignored. When desperate for good music I head for the (really) old classics, like Bach.

The young ones today don’t realize their music is rooted in the music of the past. I don’t know how they appreciate a style of music in which you can’t hear an instrument, only synthesizers. Give me Clapton, Vaughn, or Mozart.

My 17 year old daughters listen to and appreciate all genres of music, largely due, I believe, to exposure to many different, and differing types of music, combined with my not being judgmental about any style of music. They listen to some contemporary stuff, (no boybands, gods be praised), and they understand that what I dislike most about them is that modern production values make them sound homogenous. Hey, they still like my band; I must be doing something right. (If I have said that here before, please forgive me. As Thomas Dolby said, “My Brain Is Like a Sieve”).
