Laura: What if you drop your laptop in the water? Adam: Ah. I'm very careful. I have a no-skid surface on my little desk here. Plus I sprayed it with that water-proofing spray I got for my shoes. Laura: Is that a joke? Adam: As far as you know, dear. As far as you know.

Actually, if it doesn’t actually short it out, plain water won’t hurt the laptop. When my husband spilled diet coke into his laptop, I removed the memory, hard drive, and battery and held it under running water until all the soda was rinsed out then let it dry for several days before reassembling. Works fine.

Wasn’t the laptop, but when I dropped the mobile in a cup of water, and the display went out, I shook as much out as I could, toweled it, took out the battery then put it in the oven and set it as low as I could (125 deg.)Two hours later I took it out, put the battery back in, prayed, then hit the ON button.. The display lit and gave the usual info as I shouted YES !
