There are important differences between Hitler and Trump. 1) Hitler had a lower class upbringing and was poor as a young adult. Trump was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had everything he wanted handed to him from the beginning. 2) Hitler served and was wounded in World War I. Trump was sent to military high school by his dad. 3) A disillusioned Hitler fought against the “establishment” after the war. Trump has always been part of and supportive of the establishment.4) Hitler’s policies were clearly spelled out in Mein Kampf and consistent throughout his dictatorship (true, nobody believed he’d actually do it). Trump has no clear policies to speak of. Nobody has any idea what he might do in any given situation..Yes, they do have much in common – they can stir up a crowd in to a frenzy. They play fast and loose with facts but are slick enough not to get called on it. They bully people right and left into silence. They are narcissistic egomaniacs. But they are not the same, and I have just enough trust in our fairly solid institutions to believe that Trump can not do to the US what Hitler did to a Germany that was in desperate straights and had a very weak and untried government. Having said that, the idea of a Trump presidency terrifies me.
Trump does not just spout off whatever comes into his head. Everything he says is carefully crafted to mesmerize his minions. In this way he is most like Der Furher.

Trump is not Hitler. He’s Mussolini.

Actually, (s)hitler didn’t know either. His “foreign policy” got his butt kicked.

Of course Donny boy isn’t Hitler as far as his wife is concerned, Hilter didn’t run around on his mistress like Trump.
