Henry assumes government can only do one thing at a time. Which I understand. Other cartoonists, for instance, can think AND draw, but not our Henry, no sirreebob.
I get to the airport 2 1/2 hours early and dress minimally and before going, I READ THE TSA RULES ONLINE. Worst wait was the time in CO when there were a dozen teams going thru line. Some kind of large sports event had ended and they were all leaving. Being a veteran, I am very used to waiting in line. I used to wait an hour in line just to EAT! Hurry up and WAIT!
It’s not a matter of putting government “in charge” of healthcare. It’s a matter of funding the system. Our current system is riddled with waste in part due to red tape, marketing, excessive salaries. Those of us who have truly put the system to use understand the craziness that exists today. The number one cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S. today is medical expenses. (As if the trauma that caused you to rack up the bills that overwhelm you wasn’t enough. )
Republicans cut the TSA budget resulting in ling lines.Republicans have refused to cooperate on health care for Americans and have refused to upgrade America like every other industrialized country has done. We are moving toward third world status thanks to republican intransigence.
And yet it is Republican controlled Congress that diverted the airport surcharge that was earmarked for TSA into the general funds. Let’s cut funding and then blame the other party when the TSA can’t do more with less $. Same deal with the IRS and other government agencies. Cut funding and then act shocked when the funding cuts affect their ability to get the job done.
A notable incident was back in the good old days of “free market” health care when my group health insurance under Reaga/Bush assigned a nursing STUDENT the power to decide whether I could get my prescribed medications. I had a medication that pharmacists and doctors said “NO SUBSTITUTIONS” meaning no generic, as the generics had been found to have fatal outcomes as the “non-active ingredients” they used in the formulation, WOULD KILL ME! The nursing student would only authorized the generic, so I had to buy my own from the pharmacy, at $22 a pill! It took a year, but the insurance company finally relented, and the non-generic actually cost them $0.60 per pill!!
I have private health insurance, a pacemaker and have had two heart attacks. Visits to my cardiologist must be made 4 months in advance and if I have a problem before that I’m supposed to go the the ER.
Let’s hear it for the insurance companies…who take the first 33 cents of your healthcare dollar. They’re doing a stellar job of streamlining access and controlling costs.
Let’s remember that the TSA was a hastily conceived Republican boondogle that’s had serious problems from the start and has never actually been fully funded for its’ mission. It’s like contracting security out to a company like Servicemaster.

Republicans’ alternative to Obamacare is coming out any day now. Fer sure.
How long will Fox “news” viewers continue to believe it?
I guess until they face the ‘death panels’.
