Sigh, I was hoping the Sunday would be new to prove Jo right and it was just a short vacation after all. I did note while this is a 2011 strip, it’s ink dated today. hmmm, have they all had that? Of course we know cartoonists take breaks and we want them to! But, usually there is some heads up. Especially now when some or most of the money is from clicks. (back in the olden days of print they banked strips so you couldn’t tell. Then GT said, enough!) With so many zombie strips out there now, with no explanation there is a risk readers will give up and move on if they think it’s just gone to pasture. And again, while he doesn’t pop in often, he has been good about keeping us in the loop. The abrupt way the last new strip was left and this radio silence feels different. A vacation would be a no brainer to announce, and why wouldn’t he? That is why I am thinking there may be an unexpected complication in his life, or he is getting ready to wrap it up. Course, it may be the sadness with Richard Thompson has made me particularly anxious about my favorite cartoonists. rueful smile.
