Loved those old metal boxes on the porch, the white uniform and hat the driver wore, the cream rising to the top on real cold mornings. Udderly ridiculous as to why we can’t have that today, though the grocery stores and folks like Amazon do offer home delivery along with the rest of the groceries, it’s still not the same!

The BEST was when the cream in the top of the glass bottle froze and pushed the little cardboard cap out of the bottle. My mother would cut the cream off with a knife, put it in a bowl with a little sugar and some vanilla extract, just a drop or two, and it was the BEST “Ice Cream” (literally) EVER!!!

We had a milkman till I was at least 14, but I never heard of a milk chute before.

We had a milk man and delivery until I was in High School. They started coming at 3 a.m. and the dog hated the milk truck. She’d start barking when it turned the corner and wake everyone up. Finally, they stopped delivery (or it got too expensive, can’t remember which). We also had an egg man when I was little. He used an old pickup and I think he had his own chicken farm. That stopped when I was in Elementary school.
