Extended warranties are nothing but a way to get you to pay more for an item than you really need to. In my 27 years in retail, I never heard of one customer say the extended warranty they bought was worth it. If an item is going to break, it will do so with the time frame of its own warranty or long after its warranty and the extended one have expired. Those warranties don’t always cover everything, just a few cherry-picked problems that will probably never happen, or you have to jump through hoops just to use it. Instead of buying an extended warranty, you’re better off putting a couple dollars aside from each paycheck to create a fund to cover any problems. Caveat Emptor!
And HOW MANY PEOPLE keep all the original packaging you need to send a broken appliance back to the Manufacturer to get it serviced, since that’s often a requirement of an “Extended Warranty”?
