The new parent sucky sleep cycle Parent wakes when the baby briefly cries or makes some weird-ass noise. Parent remembers that the baby does this shit all the time and it's never anything to worry about. Unless they're wrong this time!!! Parent runs off to check on the perfectly fine baby.. Parent returns to bed exhausted. Feels dumb. Swears not to freak out next time. and then. just as they drift off to sleep.

Read an article where the family dog kept barking and woke the parents who found the baby was not breathing. Saved the baby. Love those kind of stories.
