Pshaw. Put a hammer through your hand between the thumb and index finger. That hurts.

I cut a thumb open pushing a board through a table saw. It didn’t hurt at all.

I sure smacked my thumb a time or two but I didn’t quit using hammers.In Adam’s case he’ll have to wait a while though.
