8 years ago I moved into a brand new apartment, the first year the new oven died. At 3 the washer and dryer, at 5 the fridge. Now I have a 35 year old stove, a 32 year old fridge. and a matched pair 43 year old washer and dryer. All work perfectly since new..I am on my 3 rd hot water heater though…

I’ve lived in the UK and Canada and definitely prefer the UK method of including the tax with the price. What you see is what you pay. Don’t know why it can’t be done here as well.

There’s a fruity choice in electronical devices that has bilked their faithful out of an astronomical amount.

You mean like the price difference between a discount store and a full retail luxury store? I’ve bought T-shirts at both mad have found the more you pay the less wear you get. I bought a T at a discount store for 99 cents and I’ve had it since 1999 and it’s still fine others that I bought for 10 buck each at much better stores didn’t even make it a year. So you can’t really go by price.

Ah, but there’s a new wrinkle in the future. Keep changing the format of media so that whatever the public invests in can be quickly rendered ‘obsolete’ and needs replacement.
