Boomer: Look. It's a blood donor clinic. They want you to give blood. Poncho: Yeah, right. Like I'm going to let them take my blood. Boomer: If you do it, they give you a free donut. Poncho? Three donuts? Poncho: Yeah, I gave blood three times.... Boomer: Wow. What an inspiration to decency and selflessness you are. Poncho: I feel kinda woozy..... Boomer: Some fuzzy guy out there needs your help.

I have donated pints of my red stuff before, but I don’t remember the last time I did so (yes, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – commonly known as Mormons – can donate blood; we’re not the same as Jehovah’s Witnesses who do abstain from donating).

Way to go, Boomer. As usual, greed gets the better of Poncho!

Man, Poncho scored but lost the game. I wonder where they found a donut giving blood bank. Mine has gone to snack bags of chips and juicy juice. I miss the old chocolate chip cookie days.

I recently passed my 100 donations mark. Got a framed certificate to hang on my wall. I’m working on 200 now (15 more years, if nothing happens to affect my eligibility/.

My husband has donated platelets over 75 times (limited to 24 times per year) in the last 3 years!
They’re always looking for more platelet donors, but many people don’t want to do it since it takes so long (over 2 and a half hours as opposed to maybe a half hour for blood). Blood supplies last longer, as well, whereas platelets only last 3 days (actually 5 days, but 2 days are used for measuring and testing). There is a constant need for more platelet donors.
(He didn’t even know what a platelet was until he donated blood one time and they wanted him for platelet donations.)
[I would, but my veins are very difficult to locate. I end up very sore and all black and blue.]

I’ve been a donor for 4 years and I donated my 14th pint on Tuesday.
One of my donations was underweight which meant it couldn’t be used. All the rest were full pints.Blood group: O+

This is late, but maybe I will be able to get on earlier tomorrow and post it on tomorrow’s strip. I really want to thank everyone here who has donated blood and/or platelets. I donated blood when I was younger, maybe 15 times total. But as various health problems started and progressed, I not only can’t donate, I have to have IV iron just to make any blood. I have had several transfusions of regular blood, and a couple of months ago had to have platelet transfusions during surgery. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to kind, giving people like you who have probably literally saved my life! Thank you!
