First they came after the 14th amendment and I did not care for the 14th did not apply to me, then they went for the 13th and the 12th until no rights were left and they came after me. With no rights taken by those of the “right” who profess to always be right.

Check out the Mexican government laws on immigration if you want a real eye opener. All we ask is for enforcement of the existing Federal laws. Unfortuneately big business just loves cheap labor, and they are the real power in this country.

Can someone please explain - in detail, leave nothing out - exactly WHEN it has been fruitful for this country to create a constitutional amendment (or revoke one) that REMOVED the rights of a citizen? The 18th amendment clearly showed that removing rights isn’t the answer.

aircraft-engineer: I don’t think you’d get a lot of argument over the moms who cross the border at 34 weeks to deliver. But what about the non-documented mother who’s been living in the US for 8 years, paying (sales, property) taxes all that time? It’s not always so simple.

For the small, small number of cases you’re talking about, it’s not near worth all the effort of amending the constitution. Reasonable border security is a much better answer to this problem.

Besides, Republicans have too much on their plate already, what with organizing a revision of the 1st Amendment to read ”.. except for Muslims.”

Next the Repubs will want to make it so that only the children of slaves legally freed by their owners before the Civil War ended can be US citizens…seriously, what part of IT’S IN THE CONSTITUTION do you conservatives not understand? And why do you hate babies so much?

Once again, only those people that are subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. are granted citizenship if born on U.S. soil. Visiting aliens, both legal & illegal are not eligible because that are subject to the countries that they are citizens of.

This is rich. Leftist liberals acusing the GOP of trampling the constitution. LOL. They have been doing it for decades but I guess that again falls under the “Freedom to think, only as I think” philosophy.
