Dad: This morning, I bought every sparkler on clearance in the tri county area! This afternoon I stuck each sparkler into the ground in our backyard!
I hope Dad brought dark-enough sunglasses too not for himself, but Mom and the kid.

September 3, 1783… our actual Independence Day… the day Great Britain conceded defeat and signed the Treaty of Paris. So I guess any day between July 4 and Sept 3rd is fair game… and who needs a reason to light up sparklers anyway, right?
